German railway know-how around the world

Recognised provider of transport consulting services since 1966

skip: Recognised provider of transport consulting services since 1966
Deutsche Bank AG and the former Deutsche Bundesbahn founded Deutsche Eisenbahn-Consulting GmbH (DE-Consult) to advise railway companies, governments and local authorities as well as private investors and to implement transportation projects.

DE-Consult was set up as a company of independent consulting engineers to pool the technical/technological know-how and operating experience of a globally acknowledged railway undertaking together with the financial expertise of a large bank with state-of-the-art methods for traffic planning and transportation business in a service package. Since then, the experts have been involved in transportation projects all over the world as surveyors, traffic planners, instructors, financial and administration experts, project controllers, planners or site supervisors.

In Germany itself, since the mid '70s the company has developed into a consulting and planning engineering firm with a full range of services covering all aspects of local and regional public transport together with the logistics infrastructure. DE- Consult was involved in the development of Germany's high-speed rail services right from the start.

Structural changes with corporate consensus
On German reunification, DE-Consult took on numerous planning and project controlling tasks in the framework of the corresponding transportation projects aiming to fill the gaps in the inner-German railway system.

At the same time, Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn merged their consulting firms DE-Consult and EVDR Bahn-Consult GmbH in 1994, resulting in an impressive concentration of know-how in the fields of traffic and operation planning, engineering planning and project management.

More than 2,000 projects in over 100 countries
From feasibility studies via surveys through to planning; from local public transport through to high-speed lines: over the years, DE-Consult has handled more than two thousand projects in over 100 countries for public-sector and private clients. In Germany, the company was involved in all major railway infrastructure projects of recent years including high-speed traffic, for long-distance, regional and local services.

The international alignment of Deutsche Bahn AG has brought about a reorganisation of the worldwide activities in the DB Group. In January 2007, DE-Consult became DB International: as a subsidiary of DB Mobility Logistics AG it has recourse to the resources of the DB Group in dealing with its worldwide projects. This step gave the company a new face: since then, it provides customers not only with access to all Deutsche Bahn engineers in the many different areas, but also with a substantially expanded product portfolio. In addition to pure consulting services, the company also meanwhile offers the full range of project development, from the initial idea through to implementation, as well as taking over operator services through the transportation and logistics companies in the DB Group.
