skip: Managing Director of DB International among Germany's top 25The German Association of Women Engineers (deutsche ingenieurinnenbund e.V. - dib) had called for nominations in March 2011 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The list of women engineers from companies, universities, associations and individuals was long - over 200 women had been nominated. In addition to a degree or doctorate in engineering, the individual’s current position was one of the prime qualifications for being selected as one of the top 25.
As Managing Director of DB International, Dr. Klemt-Albert has been responsible for “National Market and Engineering” since 1 August 2011. DB International is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn and offers the Group’s expertise worldwide. With a workforce of around 900 people, the company provides consultancy and engineering services for rail transport systems.

Before joining DB International, Dr. Katharina Klemt-Albert held various management positions at DB ProjektBau GmbH, most recently as Spokesperson and Head of Regional Project Management of Region East, where she was responsible for the implementation of rail infrastructure investment projects in Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Dr. Klemt-Albert completed her degree in civil engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum in 1996 and received her doctorate from the TU Darmstadt in collaboration with Northwestern University in Evanston/Chicago in 2001.
